The Philippines plans to buy 16 units of multipurpose twin-engine helicopters, Mi-171 helicopters from Russia in an effort to meet the Philippine Air Force (PAF) heavy lift helicopter service requirements, however this is still being carefully considered by the related parties.

The acquisition, if it goes ahead, will represent the Philippines’ first procurement of a major Russian military platform.

Quoting from Janes site, Arsenio Andolong, the chief of public affairs at the Philippines’ Department of National Defense (DND) told Janes on 10 November that the potential purchase of the Russian helicopters was valued at billion (USD265 million).
